Election Day – Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Posted By on November 2, 2012

A baseball game;  John Phillip Sousa;  hot apple pie;  the Fourth of July;  Red, White & Blue;  and expressing what’s important to YOU – all of which makes us Americans!   As Americans, we are fortunate to live in a free democratic society and to be able to exercise our patriotic duty and right to vote.

We’re down to the wire, with only four days until Election Day — so don’t forget to exercise your right to vote!  Since each state has different laws on voting, be sure to check the voting guidelines in your locality for information on how and where to vote.

Did You Know?

  • Did you know that one vote in the Continental Congress approved independence from England?   Delaware delegate Caesar Rodney, stricken with cancer,  rode 90 miles through a rainstorm to cast the deciding vote.
  • Did you know that one vote by a Tennessee legislator gave women the right to vote, when Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920?
  • Did you know that one vote in the U.S. House of Representatives  in 1993 saved the International Space Station project?

YOUR vote COUNTS!  Don’t forget to vote!  From all of us here at J.W. Pepper & Son, Happy Election Day!
