Music Modernization Act Expected to Be Introduced in Congress

The Music Modernization Act, which is scheduled for markup by the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday combines three previously introduced bills, all of which have been introduced in the Senate, along with an additional rate-setting change. The most important of these bills creates an organization to collect and distribute mechanical royalties from streaming services.

NYC Mayor’s Office Announces June as First-Ever New York Music Month

Now, the city is taking steps to both celebrate and support that rich musical past, present and future by announcing that June will be the first-ever celebration of New York Music Month, with a wide-ranging slate of both free and paid concerts, workshops, walking tours, conferences and utilities for musicians including more than 2,000 hours worth of free rehearsal space that will be underwritten by the city.
