Prizes Awarded at Augsburg’s Leopold Mozart Violin Competition

Nineteen-year-old violinist Joshua Brown from the United States has today been awarded first prize at the 2019 Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition – in Augsburg, Germany. A student of Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory, Joshua will receive €20,000, a CD recording – plus a number of important orchestral and festival performance opportunities.

Second and third prizes were awarded to 19-year-old Karisa Chiu from the United States – and 24-year-old Kaoru Oe from Japan.

Finalists Announced at Detroit’s Junior Sphinx Competition

The three Juniors Finalists have just minutes ago been announced at the 2019 22nd Annual Sphinx Competition in Detroit. Open to American Black and Latino junior high and high school students, the annual competition is aimed at the encouragement, development and recognition of classical music talent in the Black and Latino communities.
