My Score Composer of the Month—January 2026

Featured Composers for 2025–2026

At J.W. Pepper, we’re passionate about amplifying the voices of independent composers through My Score—a platform designed to connect creators with performers and educators worldwide. Each month, we celebrate the artistry and dedication that define the My Score community by spotlighting exceptional talent.

To start off 2026, we’re proud to feature Lori Sutherland as our Composer of the Month for January. In addition to Lori, we’re showcasing nine other remarkable composers whose profiles offer insight into their musical journeys, creative processes, and the works they’ve made available through My Score. Together, these features highlight the diversity and innovation thriving on the platform.

Lori Sutherland

Concert Band, Solo & Ensemble

Lori Archer Sutherland earned a Bachelor of Music degree in theory and composition from Ohio State University and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She composes, performs, and teaches clarinet. She is the founder and co-conductor of the Knock on Wood Clarinet Choir. On bass clarinet, she performs with the Crystal Lake Community Band, the Woodstock City Band, and plays clarinet with Winds Off the Lake Woodwind Quintet.

In her compositional journey, Lori has been drawn to write for beginning and intermediate musicians.  She enjoys the challenge of creating good pieces within the limitations of different performers. She also loves arranging, as it provides a chance to introduce great music to new audiences. For more information about her as a composer and arranger, you can visit her website tonaldiversions.com.

Be sure to check out her independent works on J.W. Pepper through the My Score platform!
