Liverpool, NY – In recognition of the work J.W. Pepper has done for the New York State Band Directors Association’s Summer Conference, Denise Collins, Regional Sales Manager – Northeast, was honored with the NYSBDA (New York State Band Directors Association) Distinguished Service Award at the New York State Band Directors Association’s Symposium on March 4th, 2017.
The New York State Band Directors Association honors persons with outstanding accomplishments, service and dedication to music education students in the state of New York. Denise and her team at Pepper added score booklets for directors to take home during the NYSBDA’s Summer Conference.

According to the NYSBDA’s 3rd Vice President/NYSSMC Chair, Melinda Smith, “Denise has been a huge asset to music teachers all over the northeast, but specifically for the NYSBDA organization. J.W. Pepper has allowed us and other organizations to borrow music to perform and study at the New York State Summer Music Conference. This is an enormous undertaking. We correspond several times a year to prepare while she makes sure that every detail is taken care of.”
Denise spent five years studying trumpet, music education and arts administration at Michigan State University. She worked in business for 10 years before deciding to teach music. During her music teaching career, she taught general music, band and choir at the elementary level, along with teaching at the middle and high school levels during her first and last years of teaching. Denise has been with Pepper for 14 years, beginning at the company as Operations Manager with an emphasis in sales and marketing at Pepper’s Chicago location, and later moving to Pepper’s corporate office to assume the role of Manager, Accounts Receivable. She has been in her current role of Regional Sales Manager – Northeast for the past six years.
