Arts Program Helps Students ‘Break a Leg’ in Bridgeport

    Inspired by the district’s participation in the Turnaround Arts Program — now run by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts — Bridgeport schools are turning to fundraising, donations, volunteers and recycled props and sets to put on productions ranging from “High School Musical” at Hall School, to “Alice in Wonderland” at Tisdale, to “Beauty and the Beast” at Claytor.

    “Each musical tells a story and each school that puts on a musical tells their own story of how the arts have positively impacted their school,” said Alicia Robinson, the district’s performing and visual arts director.
