Charley Pride, Trailblazing Country Music Singer, Dies at 86

    Charley Pride, country music’s first Black superstar, has died.

    The barrier-breaking Pride, who scored 29 No. 1s on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, passed away Saturday (Dec. 12) in Dallas of complications from COVID-19, according to a press release. He was 86.
