Through My Score, independent creators can share their original music with performers and educators worldwide, building meaningful connections through their work. Each month, we celebrate members of this community whose artistry truly stands out.
For April, we’re proud to feature Jiyoung Um as our Composer of the Month, along with nine other composers whose profiles offer a closer look at their musical journeys and the latest additions to their My Score catalogs.

Jiyoung Um
Orchestra
Jiyoung Um is a distinguished graduate of The Juilliard School, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance. He pursued doctoral studies in music education at Teachers College, Columbia University, furthering his expertise in pedagogy and performance.
Mr. Um has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages as a soloist, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. His international performances span the United States, Canada, Asia, and Central America, where he has captivated audiences with his artistry.
In addition to his performance career, Mr. Um has served as a violin professor at Biola University, sharing his profound knowledge and inspiring the next generation of musicians. An award-winning ASCAP composer, his compositions have been published by esteemed music publishers such as Wingert Jones, C. Alan, and Tempo Press. Several of his works have also been recorded under the Sony Music label, showcasing his versatility as both a performer and composer.
