By now, you are definitely getting excited about the upcoming Midwest Clinic. Sure, you have plenty to get ready for with winter concerts nearing, but be honest; you have been looking forward to Midwest since last year.
That’s ok; so have we. So while you are packing your bags, we thought we might suggest some items to bring that you may not have expected:
Your Appetite
This one is a no-brainer! We already gave you a quick glimpse at some of the best restaurants in Chicago, but that just scratched the surface. Food is a way of life in the Windy City and you had better bring your “A” game if you want the full experience. Just don’t bring any aspirations of maintaining your diet. Better to take a few days off.
Ketchup
Yes, it’s another food-related entry, but trust us on this one. If ketchup is a necessity to you, bring it from home. Never ever ask for ketchup on a hot dog in Chicago. Curious why? Because this is what a Chicago-style hot dog looks like:
I don’t know that you COULD put ketchup on that if you wanted to, but the vendor certainly won’t put it on for you. I would avoid letting them see you add any, too, just to be safe.
Neck Brace
Or at least a massager of sorts. Expect to spend a lot of time looking up at the myriad skyscrapers. Unless you’re from New York City, you’re probably not fully prepared for a city the size of Chicago. With so many things to see, you can expect to suffer some minor whiplash while turning from one site to the next in rapid succession. Just try to stay calm and take it all in slowly.
Holiday Spirit
Chicago is a beautiful city any time of the year, but Christmas is a special time. Cruise on down to the Magnificent Mile and check out the decorations. You are going to want to do a little window shopping on Michigan Avenue, anyway, so take your time and enjoy the splendor of Chicago at Christmastime!
Wet Wipes
Ok, this is going to be about food again. But trust me, you aren’t going to want to leave the city without trying Garrett’s popcorn. It’s a combination of cheese and caramel together on popcorn, so you really can’t go wrong. You’re just definitely going to need to clean up afterwards.
