Recently, Pepper had the privilege to speak with Debra Reilly, a 2015 Grammy nominee for the Music Educator Award. Ms. Reilly teaches and directs the string programs for Springhouse and Orefield Middle Schools in Parkland School District in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This is Ms. Reilly’s second nomination for the award. Last year, she was nominated by a former student and she made it to the quarterfinal round. This year, a current student nominated her and she became one of the 10 nationwide finalists. As a result of this achievement, Ms. Reilly will receive a $1,000 honorarium.
Pepper’s own Tom Sabatino spoke with Debra about her teaching experiences and how she is able to foster a love of music in her students. We were lucky enough to capture some of her rehearsal, as well. We hope you enjoy our interview with Debra Reilly:
